Galerie des Modes et Costumes
From 1778 to 1787, the "Galerie des modes et costumes francais" published a series of over 300 engraved, hand-colored fashion plates depicting the "fashions and costumes" of the period. While none of our sewing creations (to date, anyway!) are reproduced directly from any of these plates, the title just seemed to suit the little corner of the blog that we'll dedicate to organizing our projects and adventures in historical fashion.
Each category is roughly organized reverse-chronologically in the order in which the items were made. Please note that the period dating given for each garment is necessarily approximate. For details and additional photos of each project, please click on the picture. To scroll through the complete set of "Threaded Bliss" posts, click here.
