The Great Fabric De-Stashing - Now Available on Etsy!
We've just done a massive - and I mean massive - purge of the fabric cabinet and have listed all of the de-stashed treasures in our Shop on Etsy, hoping to find someone who can give them a new home!
All of these fabrics are out of print; many are vintage, some are a bit more recent. Some of the prints are reproductions, others strongly representative of period motifs, colors, and styles, but all quite acceptable for use in historical clothing and costumes. Most are 18th century, with a couple of 19th century options thrown in for the fun of it. :-) The only reason we've decided to part with all of this is because the stash has gotten WAY out of control and needed some serious taming. That, and we needed an excuse to buy more fabric and no excuse works better than having room in the cabinet for it!
So if you're in the mood to add something new to your stash (and help us make a bit more room in ours!), check out our new fabric department!
Here's a sample of some of the prints now newly available. We hope you find something that captures your fancy!

Counting Down the Last Days of 2013!
Currently available in the Shop: a matching black silk taffeta hat
and muff with "petal" pink silk satin ribbons.
We've kept ourselves so very busy over the last month! We've got a whole host of blog posts coming, including several that detail a special project for the Noah Webster House and a review of the MMA's "Interwoven Globe" exhibit. We also have a bunch of events - holiday and otherwise - to look forward to in the next three or four weeks that will provide some excellent material for blogging!
Because we've devoted so much time to sewing for the Shop over the past few months, our own projects have been sorely neglected and we've been missing them terribly! As a result, we've decided to take a brief intermission from "business" sewing for the next few weeks, both to enjoy some quality holiday time with the family and to allow ourselves a bit of self-indulgent time to work on a couple of our personal sewing projects. Oh yes, and to catch up on the blog! ;-) We're hoping to have two or three special 18th-century projects done in time for Christmas, so stay tuned for some new Threaded Bliss additions very soon!
As you await all those goodies, here's a glimpse of some of the newest creations that have recently been added to the Shop. You still have four more days to make Christmas purchases, so if you haven't looked around our Etsy premises in the last couple of weeks, take a stroll through there now to see what's new! Purchase by 11:59am EST on Friday, December 20th to ensure Christmas delivery!

Still looking for a gift to give to the historical costumer who already has everything? Why not consider one of our favorite newest addition to the Shop: pillows that feature reproductions of 1780s-1790s fashion plates from the "Journal de la Mode"! The colors in the prints are so pretty and have so much variety that they're sure to coordinate with any room decor.
"Journal de la Mode" fashion plate pillows!
A mock-quilted Marseilles petticoat or a long wool broadcloth cloak are winter necessities...
A mock-quilted petticoat in white Marseilles fabric, perfectly suited for use
either as an underpetticoat for winter warmth or as a fashionable
outer petticoat to compliment any gown or jacket.
A long royal blue wool broadcloth cloak.
The hood is fully lined with white silk taffeta and the cloak ties with matching blue wool tapes.
The signature generously full 18th-century "fan" hood from the back.
...as is a fashionable silk taffeta muff! The blue/green changeable one looks lovely with the cloak, if I do say so myself! ;-)
A muff of blue/olive green changeable silk taffeta.
A coral pink silk taffeta muff trimmed with white silk satin ribbon.
And after our housewife/"hussif" sewing kits were featured on American Duchess' Historical Gift Guide (thanks, Lauren!), we've only got two currently left in stock! Here's the newest design, perfectly sized for the ideal stocking stuffer!

Apologies for the long silence!
We apologize for the lengthy silence that has descended on the blog! We've both been so busy with work and with putting together new items for the Etsy Shop that we haven't had a spare moment to devote to posting. With the Holidays all-too-swiftly approaching, we want to be sure we're well-stocked! The lull in posts, however, shall be broken soon by a series of exciting new posts, we promise! Ashley attended a day of Battle of the Hook this weekend and will be sharing her pictures shortly, and we've got several special events over the next four weeks that are certain to provide some most satisfactory material for blogging!
In the meantime, we just thought we'd share some of the newest items currently available in the Shop, in the hope that it will provide sufficient eye-candy to entertain you whilst you await our upcoming exploits! :-)

A matching orange/grey changeable silk taffeta covered hat and muff.
Both are trimmed with white silk satin ribbon and tiny bunches of
paper flowers. I'm sorely tempted to keep this set for myself, but... ;-)

The Christmas delight! Covered in white silk taffeta with cherry
red silk satin ribbons and a covered wood button.

Shop Online at "A Fashionable Frolick" on Etsy!
Are you wondering what you've been missing if you haven't yet joined us on Facebook?
Well...this weekend, you've missed the special announcement of the opening of the Fashionable Frolick Shop on Etsy!
After months of preparation, hard work, and diligent sewing, we are pleased to announce the grand opening of our newest venture: an Etsy shop featuring 18th-century accessories and clothing! We know that there are a number of other places you can find period clothing, but there's always room for one more source, and we'd love to share some of our own designs and creations with you. Check out the "Shop @ FF" tab in the top menu to see more of our offerings, or visit us on Etsy to see the live listings.
We will work hard in our Shop to provide you with the highest quality historical clothing available anywhere today. Each item we produce will be meticulously researched to ensure 100% accuracy in design, materials, and construction techniques. As a business that caters to reenactors, discerning historical costume enthusiasts, historic sites, and museums, we pledge that every stitch will be hand sewn in the period manner with absolutely no modern shortcuts to give you a piece of historical fashion you can be proud to wear or display.
Over the next several weeks, we'll be adding new items to the Shop, including additional hats and muffs and a number of other essential 18th-century accessories and articles of clothing. We also have a couple of non-wearable but still historical-fashion-inspired surprises up our sleeves! Two hours before a new item premieres in the Shop, it will be exclusively featured on our Facebook page to give our friends there a special sneak preview and heads-up. So if you haven't yet joined us for some Frolicks on Facebook, now is the time so you don't miss any more of the excitement!
If there's something specific you'd be interested in seeing in the Shop, do let us know! We're happy to accept custom orders for variations on any of the items currently featured, and we're always willing to entertain new product ideas as well! Happy shopping!
